Sharaf, An-Nawawi (his most well-known title adopted from his birthplace Nawa).
Imaam Nawawi was born in Muharram of 631 H corresponding to 1253 A.D. to a
family of Nawa, a village near Damascus, Syria (known in earlier times as
Ash-Sham).
