The Mishkat has enjoyed wide popularity in the world of Islamic learning Since 516 AH when it was first compiled by Waliuddin Abu Abdullah Mahmud Al-Tabrizi
Al-Tabrizi has identified at the end of every Hadith the source or sources from where the particular Hadith was taken. Thus, by doing so, he managed to overcome shortcoming of not mentioning the isnad (chain of authorities of the Hadith).
Most of the Hadith are from the Sahih Sitta. (the six Authentic Hadith Books).

The Collection has been arranged Subject wise to make it easy for the common person to use it in the process of regulating ones life in the light of the hadith of the Prophet (SAW)

Mishkat al-Masabih is divided into twenty-nine books (kutub) and each book is divided into several chapters (abwab). Thereafter each chapter is further divided into three sections (fasl).

The first book is entitled Kitaab al-Imaan (The Book of Faith). This Book of Faith is divided into five chapters dealing with sins (dhunub), signs of a hypocrite ('alamat al-munafiq), Satan (al-shaytan), the belief in predestination (al-qadr), the proof of punishment in the grave (ithbat al-'adhab fi al-qabr), and steadfastness to the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.

Next come the books dealing with taharah (cleanliness), salah (the five daily prayers) and  not translated books include ( zakah (compulsory charity)& sawm (Fasting) ( not translated in this 3 Volume set)

Al-Tabrizi was a renown muhaddith (scholar of Hadith) of his time. He was well-versed in the intricacies of the Arabic language and rhetorics. It is unfortunate, however, that not much is known about his life. Al-Tabrizi is to be commanded for successfully improving upon Al-Baghawi's Masabih al-Sunnah.

It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. [TMQ QAF:16]

The books dealing with marriage, divorce, and family maintenance come thereafter and are followed by the remaining books which deal with a variety of subjects, such as food, drinks, clothing, behaviour, jihaad, etc.

Each book has been given a particular title which indicates the nature of its contents. The chapters also have titles which indicate the aspects of the subjects being covered in the books. However, there are only a few chapters which do not have titles.
An excellent book for everyday reference and regular reading

An Explanation to the Beautiful and Perfect Names of Allah (As-Sa'di)
Shaykh Abu Abdu-r-Rahman Nasir As-Sa'di

ISBN: 0 9536476 2 5
Translator: Abu Rumaysah
Pages: 96

Published by Daar us-Sunnah, Birmingham UK

To Allah belong the most beautiful and perfect Names, so invoke Him by them. Abandon those who desecrate His Names, they will be recompensed for what they did.? From the most noble and lofty stations of cognisance is to know the Lord, the Glorious, through His beauty. This is the knowledge possessed by the elite of this creation. All of them know Him through an Attribute from amongst His Attributes but those amongst them who have the most complete cognisance are those who have most complete cognisance are those who know Him through His perfection, magnificence and beauty. These is nothing comparable to Him in any of His Attributes, if you were to assume that the whole of creation was in its most exquisite form, and you were to try and compare their collective outward and inward beauty to the beauty of the Lord, Glorious, the comparison would be more ineffectual than a faint torch being held against the blazing disk of the sun. It is sufficient to know of His beauty that if His veil was lifted, everything that splendor of His Face fell upon of His creation would be obliterated. It is sufficient to know that all beauty, external and internal, to be found in this world and the Hereafter is from the resultant effects of His works, so what then would one think of the beauty to know of His beauty that to him belongs nobility in its entirety, strength and power in its entirety, generosity and kindness in its entirety, beneficence in its entirety, knowledge in its entirety and grace in its entirety

About Ibn Jam'ah
Qadi al Qudat, Shaikh al Islam, Badr al Din Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. S'ad Allah Ibn Jama'ah was born in 639 A.H. (1241 A.D.). He was educated at Hama, achieved excellence in religious studies and jurisprudence, and became a leading promoter of the Shafi'i fiqh. Eventually, he attained the high status of Shaikh al Islam and held the high position of Chief Justice. Imam al-Dhahabi has observed that Qadi Ibn Jama'ah was well versed both in prose and poetry, and had left copious notes on Fiqh, Hadith, Usul al Fiqh, and Tarikh. He commanded respect and influence, and had a large number of students and followers. He died at Cairo in the year 733 A.H. (1332 A.D.), aged 94, and was buried by the side of the great Imam Shafi'i.

Not much else is known about his biographical details but the study of his book 'Tazkarat Ass-Same Wa Al-Muitakillim Fi Adab Al-Alim Wa Al-Muta' Allim'  would indicate that he was closely associated with the teaching profession and was fully aware of academic life and work of teachers and pupils in educational institutions. It was in the year 672 A.H. (1273 A.C.) that Ibn Jama'ah completed his Tadhikrah as a guide for both students and teachers to help improve quality of their academic life and work.
